My Book Review: Aeuden is the lead in this book, of course, as we learn about his life and the events that brought him this far. Because of the curse placed on him by the arrows, he is dying. When the Fury contacts him, he pushes away Iseult and Owl for their own safety. As the battle rages to reclaim the Cahr Arwen, he comes to realize his fight is alongside them.

Meanwhile Merik tries to outwit the Puppet Master as well as the Fury. When an unexpected ally helps him to escape both temporarily, he discovers he must go to the ends of the earth to stop the Fury.

Iseult is taken captive by the monks. When she discovers herself drugged with no injuries, she fights to uncover the plot against her assisted by Leopold.

In Vaness’s homeland, an old ally brings up questions of loyalty for Safi who fights to save Vaness and the Hell-Bards from destruction. Is her Uncle an enemy?

Merik’s sister fights to hold off the attack by the raider king, Aeuden’s father.

There’s a LOT of characters in these books but I suppose that’s true of a series that spans out further down the road for a while still. Juggling all their names and duties is a little hard but not impossible. The plot is good. The characters are engaging. The situations they find themselves in ripe for the story. Likes: characters, worldbuilding, story. Dislikes: Not being able to remember all the characters, lol. That just may be my memory though and not another’s experience. Scorecard: A-
